About us
Everest Cheerleading Academy was founded in 2022 by two sisters, Ariel and Arister Yew.
Ariel’s cheerleading journey began at the age of thirteen in Malaysia. When she moved to Utrecht to study, she carried her passion with her. There, she founded the very first cheerleading team at University College Utrecht, starting with small performances at their college dance show. With a few other dedicated cheerleaders, they competed at their first Dutch Nationals in 2019 and won 1st place.
When COVID-19 struck and Ariel graduated, everything seemed to pause. But her commitment to cheerleading didn’t waver. She started a cheerleading course at Olympos Sports Center in Utrecht—planting the seed for something bigger. Around the same time, her younger sister, Arister, followed her sister’s footsteps and studied in the Netherlands too. With also nearly a decade of cheerleading experience, Arister decided to support her sister in starting the new cheerleading course in Utrecht.
The course quickly flourished. Within months, a new team of fifteen enthusiastic cheerleader was formed. One cozy evening, Ariel and Arister sat at their dinner table and started brainstorming for team names.
On that night, Everest was born – a name symbolizing reaching new heights together (in cheer and in life).
Since then, Everest has continued to grow, welcoming athletes from diverse backgrounds and skill levels. Today, we are more than just a course. We are a community where every athlete has a place to strive and shine. We train with discipline, support one another with compassion, and celebrate every milestone, big or small.
Our mission is simple: to share the joy and energy of cheerleading with as many people as possible. Whether through coaching, workshops, or performances, we aim to inspire, empower, and reach the peak—together.
